荣获2005年葛莱美奖最佳电影音乐原声带《Garden State情归新泽西》里，我发现一首好听的歌。是近年来颇受欢迎的新墨西哥州独立摇滚乐团The Shins，融合乡村歌谣的甜美与民谣摇滚的明亮旋律 ，可爱的小调，“New Slang”，在这个高温得窒息的盛夏下午听这歌真的是一个清凉享受。

首先被吸引的是歌曲开始的前奏，很复古的角铃，还有响板，以及淡淡清新的和声，无不透露着英伦地区强烈的文艺气息，敏感，清新，仿佛就是六，七十年代的电影片段，仿佛就是为了纪念达斯廷．霍夫曼在《毕业生》里的气质一样，仿佛就是为了表现当年黑白画面的时代质感和永恒经典，仿佛就是记录伦敦那阴霾的天和冷俊的生活，一切，随着这简单的几分钟带我们经历从前，复古的让人迷醉……
来自美国新墨西哥州的四人乐队The Shins可以说是Indie音乐领域中最成功的乐队之一—不但在全世堺拥有大批歌迷，2003年还被《Rolling Stones》评选为年度最佳乐队。唱片销量甚至超过许多主流乐队，也算是个不大不小的奇迹了。虽然他们来自美国，音乐风格却带有些英伦气息，低调另类，一些曲目呈现出一种忧伤的旋律感。
